What are your sources? What was your basic training?
come from a modest family, my father was a tailor, now in retirement. My mother do the housework as well looked after and educated me and my brother (we were twins). Our family was very close and a few crickets for the head. Vices we have never had basically because there could afford them. Every summer after school, both of my brothers found employment with friends and hang out so do not stay all day. With the money we could earn almost always bought the bike or some jeans. I never asked for money at home, but because fortunately at the age of 18 are entered into the Police and I had my own financial independence. Most of the time in fact, we work in the household and I'm proud of this day. Everything I have ever owned (bicycle, scooter, motorcycle, car, house) is only and solely the result of my commitment and my sacrifice. My parents did not have helped me more than anything else because they were not in the possibility to do so, but I always thank them for what they have taught me over the years. Lessons that are priceless.
Your childhood was significantly in the definition of your career as an athlete?
I think my childhood was crucial in what is still. I had a twin brother that the "clash" and the "confrontation" with him were daily. A continuous stimulus to do better, not to be second, a healthy competition that has made me grow up by the commitment and dedication to work my core values.
When did you start running? Why did you choose athletics? Did you practice any other sports before you look out for it?
I started racing game for 15 years and the meeting with the athlete was entirely fortuitous. Afternoon to the team at my school had more women than men, that's why I approached the sport. Then once you were there to prepare the cross country and for me that I was always accustomed to run around barefoot in the country was natural. But the sport he loved and that was the past practice in tennis, I always liked and I like it a little but still fits in with my current work, which is why I had to, in spite of myself, set it aside.
When did you realize that there would be chemistry between you and the race?
When 16 years My brother and I we got the first and second in the Italian Championships of Cross Country. If everything up to there could be a game that could end at any moment, after that time I started thinking that there might be a future in this business and they did.
There are emotions that naturally and systematically try before a race?
definitely "older" you learn to better manage their emotions, although I can certainly say that the emotion I felt in my first race was pretty much the same that I felt in 2008 at the start of the Olympics Beijing. We say that what change is the comparison to what you're doing. At age 15, without any experience, even the race of school selection you can look like the most important competition of your life. The feeling you have at the start of each race is always the same, change the way you handle "the best" such emotions.
With athletics you have had the opportunity to meet different situations throughout the world. say that travel far and wide across the globe has been one of the benefits of the sport. Without the hard race I visited many places and found many different cultures than our own. All this I allowed to have a very "broad" life. Now that I am 36 years old and at home I always expect a wife and a child, I try to get away as little as possible, even if unintentionally brings me more in this sport to be often away from home for long periods.
Do you have any interests or hobbies outside of athletics?
I really like the community in general, radio in particular. They also say it has a good voice and a very talkative self-confident, I do not know whether to believe or not, but I like to talk much, yes.
What are the places where do you train?
I train often away from home, most often by necessity and not by choice. In winter, we almost always warm (Namibia, Kenya), on the contrary a cool summer (Livingston, St. Moritz). At home, unfortunately, step over a short time because the structures would still fail on its own to run as many have stopped, and then find the company in meetings with the national team.
How do you train in general? Follow a special diet?
I train twice a day every day, usually on Sundays once but for longer. I do not adopt a special diet, our Mediterranean diet fits well with the nutrients I need training. But the excesses are bandits and desserts will grant me only on Sunday.
What would be your job if you were facing athletics?
I could draw a lot of jobs I could do, but honestly do not know what I would be able to do, but I know for certain that I would in any case unable to do in any field.
What are your plans after the end of your career?
Good question. Still I have not asked this question. For sure I will stay in arming the police, then if I try to find good career.
